_Another award for MERO-SCHMIDLIN project at Trowbridge.
MERO-SCHMIDLIN were delighted to hear that the County Hall project in Trowbridge has secured yet another commendation.
The County Hall complex designed by Stride Treglown Architects has, as well as the recent regional BCO award win for Trowbridge County Hall Phase 1, also just won a LABC award in the Large Commercial Building Category of the West of England Region.
The MERO-SCHMIDLIN Combi T Raised Flooring was instrumental in the concept which transformed an exterior multi level exterior courtyard into a highly accessible indoor atrium. The bespoke flooring system was not only designed by MERO-SCHMIDLIN but also installed by their specialist operatives as part of the sub-contract package for main contractors Kier Western. The Raised Access Flooring not only provided a level surface but also included a factory finished flooring saving time on site. The Raised Flooring also provided an airtight plenum to enable the void beneath the floor to be used as part of the buildings ventilation system. Precision cut holes and slots were inserted throughout the 1100 sq metre area to enable the ETFE roofed building to avoid excessive solar gain by even distribution of ventilation inlets and outlets within the complex flooring system.
The LABC (Local Authority Building Control)Building Awards have a huge range of categories covering a diverse range of buildings of virtually all genres. Their scope covers individual houses to complete developments in addition to civic buildings, schools, commercial and community buildings and sustainability awards.
